...Our town holds monthly council meetings at the little red school house (Governor Brann) from March through Oct. Due to the cold winter months and beginning in Nov through February, we hold our meetings in Van Buren at the Community Center in an effort to save on fuel costs. Anyone needing to meet with council members will be required to get advance approval so they may be placed on the agenda for the upcoming meeting. All meetings are open to the public however, council may not address questions or concerns if prior permission has not been granted. A simple phone call to the 1st assessor is all that's needed.
Our yearly meeting is held on the last Saturday in the month of March; we urge all voters to attend. This will be your opportunity to vote on the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Meetings are always posted on the sign outside the school house. Now that www.cyrplantation.com is online, all tax cards will be available for viewing. Meetings will also be posted along with other pertinent information under announcements on the main page.
Anyone wishing to run for an Official position is welcomed to do so. Voting takes place 2 days prior to our yearly meeting in March, if interested you may contact our town clerk.
Yearly Town reports are still available should you need one.
Trash pickup is every Thursday morning, barrels must be left at the curb for pickup. No large pieces of furniture, wood or appliance will be accepted. Our recycling center is located at Gov Brann School house on the side of the building for easy access. You may bring clean cardboard, papers, plastic milk jugs, no glass or metal cans. We urge all residents to take advantage of this opportunity so we may all help reduce waste pick up costs for all tax payers. I hope you will find this information helpful, once again welcome to our community.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the Maine Acadian Heritage Council. MAHC makes possible, through a grant, to have a tour of our Governor Brann school house each summer.
